Back To The Future - The Revival of All Things 90’s

Think 1991, your outside Cafe Mambos, 8pm, watching the sunset surrounded by ravers, and misbehavers, preparing to see your favourite DJ smash it on the decks, it’s 90’s Summer and fashion is in the process of changing forever.

From platform boots and chokers, to top knots and mesh, the 90’s held some of the best and worst clothes we’ve ever seen. Rather like marmite the 90’s was a love it or hate it type decade, but the way it has been revived is inarguably, love it, love it and love it even more. It’s amazing how we’ve taken the platform boot, a trend I'm sure NO ONE expect to re-emerge in what was the overly modernised 2010’s, but yet someone somewhere tweaked it, reworked in and invented the cleated sole, no doubt one of our favourite trends of 2014 summer, we as the youth are taking the 90’s and nipping and tucking it to create the best decade for fashion in years and years. With Be Worn in the midst of this movement, stocking everything from chokers, to mesh to killer heels, and with neoprenes and oversized tee’s in store for A/W we couldn't get more 90’s if we tried!

It’s music truly, that I feel we have to thank for the revival of 90’s fashion trends, the rise of warehouse parties, festivals and Ibiza and more importantly, house music, has shaped and altered our mind set in terms of fashion. People are looking for more retro, quirky pieces, that make them standout in a rave full of fashion conscious and usually, also completely nutty sea of people, who's love for music and fashion resonates through the room. But second to that the 90’s considered comfort, with temperatures at a warehouse party being second to that of a hot beach in Egypt at the height of summer, bodysuits and satin running shorts meant you were cool but still rocking it at the same time.

Our favourite trends, or at least my favourite trends of the 90’s have got to be, Chokers, Bindi’s and Bodysuits. Think American Apparel meets Urban Outfitters, In a clash of grunge, festival and sports inspired fashion. Highly driven by celebrities such as, The Spice Girls, Gwen Stefani and Kate Moss, The 90’s was a decade where quiet frankly, people didn't care, the whackier the better, and when whacky became the norm,  we just made it more whacky. If you had of told us 4 years ago we would be sauntering around festivals with bindis glued to our overly sweaty foreheads, we probably would have laughed, but its open mindedness that has got the nation here, and now I wonder what I did before the epidemic that is bindi madness, they complete an outfit, decorate your face better than any kind of make up could, and there are limitless designs and colours for absolutely everyone. Not to mention its uber cultural, and super hot.

At Be Worn we've taken like a duck to water, or even a spice girl to metallic moon boots; to the current 90’s trend. We currently stock a vast range of mesh, chokers and cleated sole shoes, and with much more to come for A/W we intend to create an army of walking spice girls, who’ll take the world by storm.
